Since its introduction in 1987, The Jacobson Flare has significantly improved the precision of airplane landings, an area that remained largely unchanged since the conclusion of World War I in 1918. While advancements have been made in numerous aspects of aviation, the methodology for landing training has remained vague and inconsistent. Traditionally, executing a manual landing maneuver has been fraught with uncertainty, heavily relying on critical estimations influenced by various factors, including aircraft characteristics, pilot skills, and environmental conditions.

The Jacobson Flare presents itself as the first and only quantifiable, universal landing technique in aviation history. It enables pilots to consistently articulate answers to five crucial questions necessary for effective landings:

The Jacobson Flare News ‘Reflections on Landing’ aims to provide insights and tips for refining landing techniques. We also intend to share articles that reflect my 50 years of experience as a pilot and flight instructor/training captain within both general aviation and the Australian airline sectors. Special guest contributors will join from time to time to enrich our offerings. The experiences from my early career have influenced countless pilots whom I have had the privilege to train; successful flight instruction is as much about mutual learning as it is about teaching.
